Landing stages
This 688m-long transport hub where the port lines, the underground and the city trains – and up to 1973 even trams – all meet is a tourist highlight. On the right-hand edge is the dome of the lift mechanism for the Old Elbe Tunnel –
the vehicle route under the river for port traffic opened in 1911. In the background is the floating dock belonging to Blohm & Voss. On the left-hand side is the Elbe 17 dry dock – at 351 meters long, the biggest in Europe.
