Hamburg is judicial
At the international ocean courthouse
The ITOS - International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea - is the highest court of international law and arbitration for the United Nations. It is called in international law of the sea. The courthouse has been located in Hamburg Nienstedten since 1996, where 21 judges are appointed by the 160 member nations. The recently constructed ITOS building was inaugurated in 2000 with a symbolic handing over of the keys to the then UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
