Hamburg: always on the move - not only by sea
Which other city can offer such significant sights and experiences in the world of transportation? Coming in right above the vast container ship on the River Elbe is a special kind of airplane: the so called Beluga is a modified Airbus A 300. Its enlarged volume makes it a perfect XXL-size air cargo carrier.
The EADS Group uses this "inflated giant bird" to transport components for its manufacturing and assembly. Hamburg is thus an important high-tech location in the field of aviation. The company maintains its own aircraft runway just for Airbus production - right on its own plant near to the River Elbe in Finkenwerder.
